Today I watched as many did the memorial of Michael Jackson. To many Michael Jackson was many things, a musical icon, a collaborator of musical genius, a humanitarian, a philanthropist, one to receive love from. Today I received such revelation of Michael Jackson the man. It was more than just his music that represented who Michael was. It was his love. Michael Jackson is not my idol, I do not worship him but I did receive from his music.I am a minister and yet I can identity with his music and his heart for humanity. Michael spoke words of oneness, he exemplified the message of giving back and not leaving behind others when you have the means to help them. Some would look at his human frailities, his journey, his ups and downs of life and allow that to describe Michael. But God made him bigger than that. He was given the ability to love, living in a world where people are quick to receive love but will leave you hollow afterwards. Yet wherever he went someone was touched not just by his music but his humanity. How many of his critics and slanderers of character have visited orphanges and hospitals and gave. Some would say they did not have it to give. But love comes from the heart. I miss that I did not take the time in years past to really listen to more of his music because even as a minister there were so many messages in it that I could have been transformed by. I've learnt that music has no barriers. Love is love. It is colorless, timeless and flawless. Michael allowed us to see that though he was marred he still reached out to others and poured love. That is not to me an icon. That is one that got it. He realized we have a purpose in this world and that oneness is the power that can bring it about. Michael Jackson will be missed for many reasons but for me, he testified of giving love. He used his gifts, his goods, his heart. It only counts when it comes from the heart. Michael I can only speak for myself. I heard the message.
