"Snakes In the Grass" (686 hits)

Have you ever wondered why you go through so much in life? Have you ever thought about why the dreams you have, you struggle to obtain. Perhaps you have encountered what I call "snakes in the grass". There are all kinds of people in this world with all kinds of motives. Some have motives that feed your dreams, they become a springboard of encouragement and clarity and help you reach your hightest potential in life, then there are the free riders, those who come along for the journey but are not a part of it they simply want to benefit from the fruit of your labor. Then you have what I call the "snakes in the grass". These are the most dangerous kind of people. They walk close to you but are not with you. They want to know your most inner most thoughts and ideas but they are what I call dreamkillers. They are ready like a cobra to pounce on your dream to either consumer or destroy. The problem with this type of person is they disguise themselves very well. They are patient observers, they can fit with you so well its almost like a glove but it hovers over you rather than cover you. There eyes assess your worth and your weakness and like a python they pounce in your time of weakness to destroy. They will study you, learn you like they are preparing for court and use what they have against you at your greatest or weakest moment. The Bible describes this type of person as cunny, deceitful, sly, one with guile. The Bible tells us to beware of such. In Ephesian 4:14 it identifies the intent of the cunny person as one who lies in wait to deceive. How do you live in a world filled with such immorality and depravity and not be consumed or overtaken by such an influence. You must discern, perceive clearly the movtives of man. God has given each of us a part of him. Even if one does not have a personal relationship with God he still rains on the just and unjust. A no matter what state in life you are God can and many times will reach down and speak to your life to warn you and protect you. Some call it instinct. But as one develops a realtionship with God, he will enable you to discern who is with you and who is not. We spiritually call snakes in the grass chameleons. They are people with two sides. One may ask how do I distinguish who is with me.

* Does your vision become their vision or is it them with you and your vision?
* Do people seek to be a part of everything you do, who you know, where you go?
* Do they seek to get to a place before you that you are pursuing for yourself?
* Do they take from you rather than embrace you in your own uniqueness?
Most of us have an inner witness to ourselves when we are in compromising situations. When it just doesn't seem to "fit", it "just doesn't feel right", or the "I just can't put my finger on what it is " feeling. When you have these moments, STOP, STEP BACK, TAKE A "TRUE" look at your situation and circumstances. Sometmes we must stop leading with our heart and learn to lead from the unction inside us. The thing about snakes in the grass is they evenutally reveal themselves, remember the python rarely releases the rabbit when he catches it. There is usually always a price when you have one of these encounters. Now you know how to address the issue.

Excellent commentary and thanks for sharing this priceless wisdom here. I have had many encounters with these type of people, because I try not to judge people before giving them a chance. I've even had a few dreams about snakes in the grass. I am learning that although we should give people the benefit of doubt, I realize that everyone has their own motive for being with a person and the sooner I learn what that motive is ~~~ the better for me.
